Boyolali, Jawa Tengah (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are set to attend the Congress of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in Solo city, Central Java, on Sunday (July 20, 2025).

The meeting is scheduled to begin on Saturday (July 19).

“I intend to dedicate my time on Friday and Saturday to work. Then, on Sunday, I will accompany Mr. President to the congress, maybe in the evening,” Gibran told the media after reviewing government aid distribution in Boyolali district, Central Java, on Friday.

Reports indicate that President Prabowo has been invited to the congress in his capacity as chair of the Gerindra Party.

The seventh Indonesian president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is also scheduled to take part in the event, but on the first day.

“Mr. Jokowi will be present with us on July 19 to have discussions with all congress participants,” Benediktus Papa, secretary of the congress steering committee, said in Jakarta on July 12.

According to the plan, the meeting will be held at two different locations, with around 20 thousand PSI cadres taking part in the election of the party chairperson for the 2025–2030 period. The new party logo will also be launched during the congress.

Regarding the race for party leadership, Kaesang Pangarep -- Jokowi’s youngest son and Gibran’s brother -- has confirmed that he will seek re-election.

Kaesang has also clarified that his father has decided not to run for the post, despite speculation about him being a top contender.

He informed that he has persuaded the former president to give more space to younger politicians to take the spotlight.

“I find it impossible for a son and his father to compete against each other,” Kaesang said at a press conference after registering for re-election in Jakarta on June 21.
