Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla received the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) on Monday afternoon to discuss political, legal and security issues.

"We told the Vice President about what the Indonesian government needs to do," Wantimpres Chief, Sri Adiningsih, told the press at the Vice Presidential Office here.

The other members of the council who met the Vice President were Sidarto Danubroto and Rusdi Kirana.

According to Adiningsih, the council had suggested that the government strengthen coordination in the economic field and other sectors, which will help boost economic growth.

At the meeting, the council also touched on future development programs in Indonesia in view of the many external and internal problems the country must deal with, she stated.

"We must be successful in implementing various programs and achieving targets in the medium-term national development plan," he said.

She added the council had also discussed legal problems, which have now become the center of public attention, with the Vice President.

Meanwhile, Danusubroto said one of the subjects for discussion at the meeting was reducing dwelling time at Jakartas Tanjung Priok port to three days at the most.

"That is the presidential instruction. If it is more than that it will be costly and lengthy and it will hamper our ability to compete with neighboring countries," he said.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Rizal Ramli, has set up a task force to reduce the dwelling time.(*)
