If no problem is encountered, the work may be started in 2016."
Kupang (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia Ministry of Transportation has agreed on a plan to develop an airport on the island of Adonara in the district of East Flores in eastern East Nusa Tenggara province.

"In principle, the Ministry of Transportation has agreed to the plan to develop an airport in Adonara. If no problem is encountered, the work may be started in 2016," Ricard Djami, the head of the regional office of the Ministry of Transportation, noted here on Friday.

He gave the statement to Antara when contacted from Jakarta after presenting the results of a survey on three prospective locations identified for the development of the airport.

He remarked that the transportation ministry would immediately issue the principle permit for the Adonara airport project.

"After the principle permit is issued, indeed some stages of the process have yet to be completed, including the preparation of the master plan, study to analyze the environmental impact, and a detailed air and land technical plan," he explained.

For preparing the master plan and environmental impact analysis report, Djamis office had already proposed to allocate funds in the East Nusa Tenggara revised budget for 2015.

Speaking in connection with the environmental impact analysis report, he affirmed that construction could be started while the analysis is still being carried out.

"We will continue to coordinate, so that the construction could be started in 2016. At least, we can begin preparing the site of the project," he added.
