Osaka (ANTARA News) - Indonesian products will be exhibited in Osaka, Japan, in March 2016 to increase the amount of goods exported to Japan, Director of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Osaka Hotmida Purba stated here on Friday.

"We are currently discussing the venue of the event, which will be held at the Grand Osaka shopping center. On November 27, we will hold a meeting with the Grand Osaka management," Purba noted.

Indonesian export products to be exhibited are batik, knitted material, and wall covers made of recycled timber, among others, Purba said, adding that the promotion center will hold a batik festival as Grand Osaka has planned to organize a festival program.

"The batik festival will feature fashion shows and workshops that will provide an opportunity to the Japanese people to learn batik making using a traditional tool called "canting" and "malam" (wax for batik). To this end, a group of batik makers and entrepreneurs, among others, from Pekalongan and Solo will come to Osaka," Purba remarked.

According to Purba, the festival will also feature a photo exhibition and Indonesian art performances that will showcase hundred years old batik and contemporary batik as well.

She explained that the Osaka television station was also offering a similar exhibition, which will be held at a museum in order to establish cooperation among businessmen of the two countries.

Purba stated that Indonesias export products, such as apparel and rubber were in high demand in Osaka.

"Osaka also offers halal products but has not been able to issue a halal certificate. Therefore, halal food entrepreneurs here expect the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to conduct direct checks on the food," she remarked.
