Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A gas cylinder exploded in Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon, injuring six people, the police stated.

"The explosion occurred at the house of a gas cylinder seller Mrs Ety," Chief of the Cilandak police precinct Commissioner Syafei noted.

Four of the injured have been identified as Disut, Abdul Latif, Egi, and Dini, while the identities of the two others are yet to be established.

The police have questioned several witnesses, including the chief of the neighborhood association, to ascertain the cause of the explosion.

The gas cylinder leaked and exploded, while the owner of the house was boiling water to make coffee, he reported.

A fire broke out due to the explosion. At least 10 fire trucks were sent to the scene to put out the blaze.

All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for burn injuries.(*)
