Bandung (ANTARA News) - The first phase of construction of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway Project will commence on the Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, to Tegalluar, Bandung District, West Java, route.

"The high-speed railway will be constructed from Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, to Tegalluar, Bandung District, West Java," West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan stated after a meeting to discuss the accelerated construction of the Jakarta-Bandung fast train project here on Wednesday.

"The West Java administration is coordinating and consolidating with the Indonesian state enterprise consortium and its Chinese counterpart," he said.

The districts and cities involved in the project are Bekasi City, Bekasi District, Karawang District, Purwakarta District, West Bandung District, Cimahi City, Bandung City, and Bandung District.

"The meeting was attended by district heads and mayors. We agree and welcome the implementation of the Jakarta-Bandung fast train project," the governor noted.

The governor emphasized that the involvement of the head was important. The development of the high-speed railway would be integrated with the development of new economic growth centers in West Java.

Therefore, the central government should accelerate the construction of the fast train network based on the deadline.

The Bandung-Jakarta rapid train will use driverless technology and a safety index level IV from China, Director of the Indonesia-China Rapid Railways Hanggoro remarked earlier on Thursday.

"Although driverless, there will still be officers in charge of opening and closing the doors, supervising the passengers, and monitoring conditions on the track," Hanggoro revealed.

He noted that the safety index level IV technology offered several advantages, and therefore, it left no room for accidents caused by human error.

"The safety index level IV technology is of the highest level in the world, and so far, only China has been applying the technology. All actors are taken into account, so that there is no room for human error," he stated.

According to Hanggoro, the train-control technology in Indonesia is being used for the installation of the automatic train protection (ATP) system, which can automatically control the train and help avoid the breaking of signals.

Currently, he remarked that the management continued to improve the capabilities of human resources involved in manufacturing the Bandung-Jakarta rapid train.

He added that the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bandung-Jakarta rapid train project will be conducted in April 2016.

"The development of fast trains is expected to offer benefits to the entire community," Hanggoro added.
