Cirebon (ANTARA News) - Pertamina EP and its parent state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, signed a head of agreement (HOA) on gas sale from the Jambaran-Tiung Biru (JTB) gas field project in East Java.

"We hope the project will run soon so that both sides will get the benefit and contribute revenues to the state," PT Pertamina EP President Director Rony Gunawan said in a press statement here Saturday.

Pertamina EP, which is a subsidiary of Pertamina, owned an eight percent management stake in the JTB gas field project. Rony hoped that the JTB project would be realized soon after the gas sale-purchase agreement is completed.

In the agreement, Pertamina EP, which owns eight percent of the shares with the JTB, will sell gas to Pertamina. The gas will be used for electricity and industrial needs.

Operated by Pertamina Cepu (PEPC), the JTB field will start physical activities in the middle of 2016. In the first quarter of 2019, the JTB field is expected to begin production of 227 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. Production will reach its peak with a capacity of 315 mmscfd in 2020.

In order to increase its follow-up production, Pertamina EP Jatibarang in Cirebon will develop a well intervention scheme on its offshore X-Ray and RDG fields.

The X-Ray field is the backbone of the Jatibarang Field production, Jatibarang Field Manager Ceppy Agung Kurniawan said.

The X-Ray field is composed of four remote platforms, namely X-Alpha (XA), X-Bravo (XB), X-Delta (XD) with a total number of 34 wells in the X-Ray field.

Of the 34 wells, there are 20 active oil wells operating under an Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) system and two non asso gas wells with natural flow.

Despite the fact that the X-Ray is 40 years old, its production has not yet dropped.

While continuing to innovate, X-Ray was able to record a production of 2,112 bopd in 2015 (year-to-date, December 17, 2015).

"The reactivation of suspended wells of the X-Ray field will continue to be made in 2016. Efforts to increase production are inseparable from the cooperation among the relevant teams such as those of the Exploitation and Surface Facility Asset," Ceppy said.
