Jakarta (ANTARA News) - South Korea and Spain are interested to invest in the renewable energy sector in Indonesia, Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Chief Franky Sibarani noted in a written statement on Wednesday.

He stated that South Korean investors were keen to invest US$150 million in a power plant that will use garbage to generate electricity, while Spanish investors were interested in investing in the construction of wind turbines in Sidrap, Samas, and Sukabumi.

"We will safeguard the interests of investors in the electricity sector, so that investment can be realized immediately and can positively contribute to the industry and society," remarked Sibarani.

According to the BKPM chief, the interest shown by South Korea and Spain proves that the investment potential in the renewable energy business is still attractive to investors.

On the other hand, power projects have become one of the priorities of the BKPM in its efforts to accelerate development in the infrastructure sector.

"Electricity is a fundamental aspect that still requires a significant amount of investment from both within and outside the country," he added.(*)
