Poso, C Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The person killed in a gunfight between security forces and an armed civilian group in Poso district, Central Sulawesi, last Friday is not Indonesias most wanted terror suspect Santoso, police confirmed.

"The dead person identified by his initial as R came from outside Sulawesi," chief of Tinombala regional operation Senior Commissioner Leo Bona Lubis said in a press briefing here on Sunday.

Leo who is also deputy chief of the Central Sulawesi provincial police said the body of R is being kept at the Bhayangkara police hospital for identification.

Although the body has not been identified, the police believed that R was not put on the wanted list, he said.

"We assure that the person we have shot to death was not Santoso. We have got his initial as R. He came from outside Sulawesi," he said.

After all, he said the police are waiting for the result of a DNA test conducted by the provincial polices forensic team.

Security forces exchanged fire with a terrorist group in Ineba mountain chain in Poso district last Friday, leaving one person dead.

The firefight came a day after a series of explosions and shootout occurred in Jakarta last Thursday.(*)
