Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics has blocked 477 websites carrying content full of radicalism, pornography or LGBT-related stuff.

"Yesterday (Tuesday, Feb 16), Panel 1 that deals with pornography and Panel 2 that deals with radicalism decided to block 477 websites that contained content related to LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender)," the ministrys director of E-Business of the Directorate General of Application and Telematics, Azhar Hasyim, said here on Wednesday.

The decision was made following a joint meeting of the two panels and representatives of "Over the Top" (popular apps company) at the ministry building.

Azhar said the decision to block the sites was taken following reports from the community which has been restless due to LGBT-related propaganda, pornography and radicalism.

He said the ministry also blocked Tumblr Blog because it carried a lot of pornographic content.

"We have asked the Internet Service Provider to process the blocking of 477 sites and Tumblr so that in the next few days, these are no longer accessible," he said.
