Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesias exports rose 4.25 percent to US$11.79 billion in March from $11.31 billion a month earlier, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said.
However, exports in March 2016 fell 13.51 percent compared to the same month last year, BPS Chief Suryamin said in a press briefing here on Friday.
Non-oil/non-gas exports in March 2016 increased 3.58 percent to $10.56 billion from $10.19 billion the month before. However, they declined 9.29 percent compared to the same month last year, he said.
Mineral fuels saw the biggest increase among non-oil/non-gas commodities in March 2016 with a value of $105.9 million or a 10.10 percent increase compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, jewelries recorded the biggest drop with a value of $228.1 million, or a 23.28 percent decline compared to the month before.
He said the United States was the largest market for Indonesias non-oil/non-gas exports in March 2016, with a value of $1.25 billion, followed by Japan with $1.07 billion and China with $1.01 billion. The non-oil/non-gas exports to the three countries accounted for 31.50 percent of Indonesias overall non-oil/non-gas exports in March 2016.
"Exports to the European Union comprising 27 countries were recorded at $1.15 billion," he said.
Cumulatively, Indonesias exports in the first quarter of 2016 reached $33.59 billion, down 14 percent from the same period last year. Likewise, non-oil/non-gas exports also declined by 9.64 percent to $30.14 billion.(*)
