"The international community has responded positively to the Indonesian economic policy packages," Retno Marsudi said.
London (ANTARA News) - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said the international community has welcomed the various economic policy packages issued by the Government of Indonesia.

"The international community has responded positively to the Indonesian economic policy packages," Retno Marsudi said here on Wednesday.

The minister remarked that German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron have appreciated the economic reforms.

"They have appreciated the efforts being made by the Indonesian government," the minister said, adding that these economic policy reforms were in keeping with the promise made by President Joko Widodo.

Earlier, a senior economic minister had announced that the Indonesian government will soon announce the 12th economic policy package as a follow up to its efforts to deregulate the countrys economy.

"Shortly after returning from the presidential visit to Europe, we will issue the 12th economic policy package," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution said on the sidelines of President Joko Widodos visit to the United Kingdom.

During meetings with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and businessmen earlier, President Jokowi said the Indonesian government was focusing on three issues -- expediting infrastructure development, conducting structural reforms or deregulation and improving human resources.

President Jokowi will be in Europe on a working visit till April 23.

The 11th economic policy package was announced on March 29, 2016, and basically dealt with smallholder business credits. It was aimed at encouraging micro, small and medium businesses which are export-oriented.

The 11th policy package was prompted by an understanding that micro, small and medium businesses have the creative potential to produce export goods in line with the governments policy to diversify export commodities.

However, efforts to export products made by micro, small and medium companies still face obstacles, particularly when it comes to human resources, marketing and international trade standards.

The policy package is aimed at providing stimulus to these businesses to increase exports and improve their competitiveness and quality.(*)
