Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Bureau of Narcotics (BNN) has proposed to the House of Representatives the setting up of special court to hear drug cases by revising the Law No. 35 of 2009 on narcotics.

"We already gave inputs to the House," BNN chief Comm.Gen. Budi Waseso said here on Wednesday.

In addition, there should be special judges and prosecutors to deal with drug cases, Waseso said.

"We want drug cases be handled by special court similar to special court for corruption cases of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)m" Waseso said.

BNN also proposed the use of funds collected in the process of handling drug cases to finance BNN operations, he said.

In Indonesia drug offense, corruption and terrorism are categorized as extraordinary crimes.

Malaysia also plans to set up special drug court to hear drug cases. (*)
