Now, after 32 years, they could enjoy it for 24 hours
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Inhabitants of the island of Ende in the eastern province of East Nusa Tenggara can finally enjoy round the clock access to electricity, something for which they waited for 32 years.

State-owned electricity company (PLN) public relations senior manager Agung Murdifi said here on Friday that tests were carried out to shift from a 12 hour power supply to 24 hour power supply in a day, and these have been good.

"During the 24 hour test, 1,634 customers were found to have consumed 110 kW during the day and 270 kW at night from a 420kW capacity power generator," he said.

The 24-hour electricity service was launched by the general manager of PLN East Nusa Tenggara service, Richard Safkaur, and Ende district head Marselinus YW Petu at Alun-Alun Ende on Thursday.

Agung said the people of Ende island in the sub-district of Ende island, Ende, East Nusa Tenggara, had actually had access to electricity since 1984 but could only enjoy it for 12 hours.

"Now, after 32 years, they could enjoy it for 24 hours," he said.

He said the largest number of electricity customers in Ende comprised households, totaling 1,591, followed by social institutions numbering 29, 10 public offices and four business institutions.

As per the consumption data, a total of 1,409 customers use 450 VA, 189 customers use 900 VA, 29 customers 1,300 VA, five customers 2,200 VA, one customer 3,500 VA and one customer uses 16,500 VA.
