Beijing (ANTARA News) - Indonesian culinary arts flagged under the "Wonderful Indonesia" campaign were featured at the ASEAN-China Gourmet Festival held in Beijing, Monday evening, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ASEAN-China partnership dialog.

The guests attending the event were able to sample various Indonesian juices and snacks, including chips and crackers made of salak, apple, cassava, and shrimp.

Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Soegeng Rahardjo and his counterparts from other ASEAN member countries attended the festival.

Several traditional dances were performed to entertain the invitees during dinner.

Two Indonesian chefs, Saleh and I Nyoman Sunada, prepared an array of unique Indonesian culinary delicacies, such as ox tail soup, grilled snapper with sweet and sour snapper sauce, and spring rolls.

ASEAN-China Secretary General Yang Xiuping affirmed that the dishes reflected the wealth of culinary traditions, customs, culture, and history of Indonesia.

"The culinary cultural exchange plays an important role in promoting understanding, as well as supporting friendship and partnership among nations, particularly in the ASEAN and China," he noted.

Ambassador Rahardjo shared a similar view, expressing hope that relations between China and the ASEAN will deepen.
