Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - West Java will send six of its diving athletes for training in Selangor, Malaysia, to equip them with better skills before they compete in the 19th National Sports Week (PON) 2016, a spokesman has said.

"I plan to leave for Malaysia tomorrow (Friday) and the other athletes will follow (me). The training is scheduled to continue until early September," West Java provincial athlete Ahmad Sukran Jamjami stated here on Thursday.

The 19th PON 2016, to be organized in West Java Province, will open on September 17.

Other diving athletes who will also undergo the same training are Yulius Eko, Rohmat, Septian Cahya, Herlyani and Nurfadillah.

Diving trainer Wei Wei, hailing from China, is expected to lead the training center for West Javas athletes.

"We hope our performance will improve after the training and we will be more confident at the upcoming PON," Ahmad Sukran, who won a silver medal in the SEA Games 2015 in Singapore, pointed out.(*)
