Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA News) - A light aircraft belonging to flight operator Associated Mission Aviation (AMA) skidded off the runway during landing and crashed into a residential house on Tuesday in Lolat, Yahukimo District, of Papua Province.

Director of AMA of Papua Djarot Soetanto confirmed here on Tuesday that there were no fatalities due to the accident, which occurred at 7:58 a.m. local time (GMT+9).

The Cessna 208 B aircraft, bearing registration number PK-RCK, caught blaze after crashing into a honai, a local traditional house, located at the far end of the airstrip.

At least one local resident was injured in the accident.

The ill-fated aircraft was manned by pilot Brian Potingger and was carrying two passengers.

"Both the pilot and passengers as well as the local resident, who were injured in the accident, had been taken to the Wamena Hospital," Soetanto reported.(*)
