Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The House of Representatives (DPR) endorsed nine members of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) for the 2016-2019 term at a plenary meeting here on Wednesday.

"Let us ask members of the plenary session whether the House Commission Is report on the fit and proper test conducted on the KPI members can be approved," DPR Deputy Chairman Fadli Zon said at the parliament building here.

In reply, all the DPR members who were present at the plenary session agreed to the appointment of the nine KPI commissioners.

The nine KPI commissioners were elected after passing through a selection process on Monday and Tuesday.

In his address to the plenary session, Chairman of the House Commission I Abdul Kharis Almasyhari said as per presidential decree number 90 of 2013 concerning the KPI central executive board, the term of office of the present KPI commissioners will end on July 27, 2016.

He said the House Commission I has conducted a fit and proper test on 27 candidates for the KPI commissioners. "The fit and proper test ran smoothly and openly. After the fit and proper test finished, we held an internal meeting to elect the nine KPI commissioners," he said.

The nine KPI commissioners are Nuning Rodiyah, Sudjarwanto Rahmat Muh Arifin, Yulindre Darwis, Ubaidilah, Dewi Setyarini, Obsatar Sinaga, Mayong Suryo Laksono, Hardly Stefano Fenelon Pariela, and Agung Suprio.(*)
