The services would certainly improve port productivity."
Surabaya (ANTARA News) - State-onwed port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) III has formed synergy with three state lenders Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bank Mandiri, and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) to improve quality and efficiency in port services.

The synergy would improve the quality of port service with banking financial support for Pelindo III.

Finance Director of Pelindo III U Saefudin Noer said the synergy is a realization of contribution of Pelindo III as a state company to the countrys economic development.

"Our commitment to synergy with BNI, Bank Mandiri and BRI is confirmed in a memorandum of understanding signed in Jakarta today," Saefudin here on Wednesday.

Saefudin said cooperation in banking service in port transactions is expected to facilitate Pelindo III business process.

"The services would certainly improve port productivity. The easier and the faster the financial transaction process would result in a faster business conclusion," he said.

He said improved productivity of port would have positive impact reducing logistic cost and lower cost to be paid by the service users.

"The users of the services of Pelindo III are mainly shipping companies. The longer they have to stay in port, the larger the cost they have to pay and waste longer time resulting an increase in prices," he said.

Corporate Business Director of BNI Herry Sidharta said BNI, Bank Mandiri and BRI are always ready to support expansion of banking service system for Pelindo III, to improve efficiency and at the same time contribute to business expansion in ports.

"Ports are one of the main infrastructure in driving the countrys economic growth. A lot of goods flow via ports both domestic and international goods," he added.

Director of Digital Banking and Technology of Bank Mandiri Rico Usthavia Frans said the support provided by the three state banks for Pelindo III include lending facility, trade finance, tresury line facility, liquidity management and a number of other services.

"Pelindo III is a big state company and now the maritime sector is in the center of governments development program," Rico said.

Therefore, the support provided by the three banks would help fulfill the financial requirement of Pelindo III, he said, adding in June the three state lenders already provided a syndicated credit of Rp4.5 trillion for Pelindo III.
