Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Central Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) calls for the uprooting of all seeds of radicalism and terrorism.

"Unless immediate action is taken to crack down on the seeds the country would face a bigger threat in the future," secretary general of the countrys major non political Islamic organization, Helmy Faishal Zaini said here on Friday.

Faishal said there was already a mass organization openly expressing rejection of the Unitary State of Indonesia (NKRI) and the state ideology Pancasila.

Ironically, there has been no action taken against the organization, he pointed out.

"They clearly said the Proclamation (of independence) had given birth to thoghut (evil) and they branded us as infidel betraying Islam," he said.

Helmy said NKRI was born out of consensus and agreement of all elements of the nation through religious approaches and views, therefore, the NKRI consensus should be complied with by all.

Rejecting compliance with the consensus is tantamount to opposing NKRI, he said.

Helmy said he refused suggestion that terror bombing Indonesia was attributable to weakness of moderate Islam.

"This is not that NU or Muhammadiyah having lost something with their moderate Islamic views they have adopted. It is the duty of all to promote peace," he said.

Meanwhile, dean of the faculty of adab and humanities of the Syarif Hidayatullah Islamic University Zubair said those seeking Islamic state and call others infidel clearly know nothing about history.

"They adopt foreign ideology and want to spread it in the country by force," Zubair added.(*)
