Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former Religious Affairs Minister Muhammad Maftuh Basyuni (77) passed away at Jakartas Gatot Subroto or RSPAD hospital after being treated for several days at the hospital.

Basyuni was previously treated in Malaysias hospital to have irradiation on cancer around his lungs, according to Muhammad Maftuh Basyunis son Irvan Basyuni, here on Tuesday.

Muhammad Maftuh Basyuni was appointed as religious affairs minister by former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Irvan also said that former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and several noted figures visited Basyuni when he was treated in the hospital.(*)
