"There are 12 joints statements on three major issues that we discussed at the meeting to speed up the improvement of the quality of ASEAN vulnerable residents life," Indonesian Minister for Social Affairs Khofifah Indar Parawansa said here on Friday.
At the meeting, the minister spoke of the empowerment of social welfare in ASEAN, cooperation among ASEAN+3 and a plan to hold a meeting in Laos in 2019.
She further said three main issues were discussed at the meeting, including the development of social welfare for children and senior citizens, and disabled persons.
The meeting is a strategic forum for ministers and government officials of ASEAN member states to share experiences and exchange views on the progress achieved in the implementation of social welfare-based projects in ASEAN member states.
The meeting also reiterated the significance of ASEAN member states and partners to improve the quality of vulnerable peoples life.
Therefore, all participating countries will review the implementation of various projects in the social welfare field, which is a result of ASEANs partnership with the three Asian countries.
The meeting is also part of the joint commitment to build strong, dynamic and integrated connectivity among ASEAN members, Khofifah added. (*)
