Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian companies facilitated by the Ministry of Trade generated $1.3 million worth of potential transactions during the 2016 Medic West Africa and Medlab West Africa Exhibition held in Lagos, Nigeria.

"Indonesia successfully obtained $1.3 million worth of potential transactions. The biggest contribution came from the transaction prospects of latex glove products from Shamrock Manufacturing Corporation, enthused by 70 companies from Nigeria and Ghana, for 650 thousand US Dollars," said the Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Lagos, Nino Wawan Setiawan in a press release received here, Thursday.

The Indonesia Trade Promotion Center Lagos took six company representatives to the exhibition, held from October 12 to 14, as a part of the efforts to boost promotions and non-oil and gas exports to Africa.

The six corporations included CV Beauty Kasatama, PT Shamrock Manufacturing Corpora, PT Sugih Instrumendo Abadi, PT Oneject Indonesia, PT Arista Latindo and Mensa.

Nino added that some 90 Nigerian and Benin companies are interested in under pad and surgical mask products from Beauty Kasatama worth a potential $350 thousand.

Furthermore, 45 Nigerian pharmaceutical companies have expressed their interest in becoming a sub-distributor of medicine products from PT Menjangan Sakti with the potential to generate $300 thousand worth of transaction value within the next year.

Medic West Africa and Medlab West Africa Exhibition is the biggest event in West Africa, in which health products and appliances are showcased.

Every year, the exhibition presents 200 exhibitors from 30 countries and this year in particular, it is estimated that 7,500 visitors participated in the event.

It is recorded that in the last two decades, medicinal exports from Indonesia to West African countries increased significantly.

Indonesian pharmaceutical companies, which have been involved in export activities, include Kalbe Farma, Biofarma, Tempo Scan Pacific, Dexa Medica, Menjangan Sakti, Haduo Herbatic and Sanbe Farma.

With a total population of 181.5 million people, which makes up for 58.8 percent of the total population of West Africa, and $1.05 zillion worth of income per capita, Nigeria acts as the biggest marketplace in West Africa, especially for consumption and pharmaceutical goods.
