Mataram (ANTARA News) - A Malaysian hiker Ng Yin Teck (24) was found dead in Aik Kalak hot water spring on Mount Rinjani, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, an official said here on Wednesday.

"We have just received information from the local people. The body is being evacuated," Head of Senaru Resort of Mount Rinjani National Park Authority Gusti Ketut Suarta said here on Wednesday.

The Malaysian hiker, whose passport number is A32571227, was found trespassing Mount Rinjani, as the local authorities has closed the area following a volcanic eruption in September.

"The hiking area had been closed and no hiking activity was allowed without official permit," Suarta said.

The Malaysian national was reported to have started the hike from Sembalun track in East Lombok District.

He was escorted by a porter and a guide along with another female hiker from Germany, whose initial was JB (22).

The group then took a bath in the hot water spring on Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 pm local time.

The Malaysian dived in the water spring and did not surface until 07:00 pm and his body was found floating at the hot spring.

Suarta said that the local authorities have deployed a rescue team assisted by several local residents to evacuate the body.
