We have energy, food and water, but we have not been able to manage them well for future generation."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a gathering with the participants of the 8th National Congress of the Indonesian Islamic Propagation Institute (LDII) to discuss peace in the national development.

"Being Indonesian means that everyone and every organization must have the spirit of Pancasila, Bhineka Tunggal Ika or the Unity in Diversity, and mutual cooperation to uphold tolerance," the president said during the gathering at Balai Kartini here on Wednesday.

Jokowi on the occasion said he appreciated the LDII in maintaining harmony and peace through the teachings of Holy Quran and Hadith.

In his directives, the head of state also explained the projects that are being built by Indonesia, such as agriculture, infrastructure and human resources.

Indonesia, according to the president, is also in the era of competition with other countries in the fields of energy, food and water.

"We have actually the strength in these three areas. We have energy, food and water, but we have not been able to manage them well for future generation," Jokowi remarked.

To improve the quality and capabilities of human resources, vocational schools should be improved in the era of competition, he said.

"Now, we focus on vocational schools and training," said the president, who was accompanied by Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara and Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, among others.

In recent days, the president visited a number of Islamic organizations such as the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah, among others, to discuss peace efforts to build the nation.

During his visit, Jokowi also appreciated the efforts of the Islamic organizations in maintaining order during the mass demonstration on November 4, 2016, to call for the prosecution of Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnam (Ahok), who was accused of blasphemy.
