How beautiful is the sense of brotherhood in a pluralistic community since this is a gift from Allah to us."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has said the majority community in Indonesia should protect minority groups, while the minority groups should respect the majority group.

"(They must) respect each other. Otherwise, they will not feel connected to each other," he said while attending mass prayers here on Saturday.

Such mutual respect will bring about peace in the country, he noted.

"We always want to enjoy the beauty of peace. How beautiful is the sense of brotherhood in a pluralistic community since this is a gift from Allah to us," he counseled.

"Pluralism may become Indonesias strength if we manage it well as part of the framework of Indonesian unity, and of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. Many nations were torn apart because they failed to manage differences and disregarded pluralism," he cautioned.
