Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Police have arrested a suspected mastermind of the November 13 Molotov cocktail attack on Oikumene Church in the East Kalimantan provincial capital of Samarinda, which left one person dead and three others injured.

"It is true, one person has been arrested in Penajam Paser Utara for his alleged role in the bomb explosion," Chief of the Samarinda City Police Senior Commissioner Setyobudi Dwiputro said here Friday.

Densus 88, the anti-terrorist squad of the police, along with the Penajam Paser Utara district police, arrested the suspected mastermind, identified by his initials as Jo, at Girimukti village in Penajam Paser Utara district Friday afternoon.

"I do not know whether he is the mastermind of the attack because we have not interrogated him. It is true that one person has been arrested in Penajam Paser Utara in connection with the bomb explosion in Oikumene Church," Setyobudi said.

The police will take the suspect to Samarinda for questioning.

"He will still be investigated. We will compare his testimonies with the results of investigation into the perpetrator and other witnesses detained in Samarinda," he said. The police have arrested five suspects in connection with the attack.

That attack claimed the life of a two-and-a-half-year old girl, Intan Olivia Marbun, and left three other children wounded, all under the age of five.(*)
