Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Hungary have agreed to reinforce cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and investment.

Efforts to strengthen cooperation were raised in a discussion on "Strengthening Indonesia-Hungarian Cooperation in Education, Culture, and Investment" with Hungarian Ambassador to Indonesia Judit Nemeth-Pach at the University of Janabadra in Yogyakarta on Wednesday.

"With the attendance of Hungarys Ambassador to Indonesia, the discussion on Strengthening Indonesia-Hungarian Cooperation in Education, Culture, and Investment has officially opened," noted Coordinator of Private University Coordination Board (Kopertis) Region V Bambang Supriyadi.

According to Bambang, the cooperation between private universities under Kopertis Region V with universities in Hungary has existed since 2013 and is still evident.

"There were nine private universities at that time. We were able to develop cooperation easily because it was supported by the Hungarian ambassador," he said.

In fact, Bambang pointed out, since 2013, a number of private universities from Hungary have already twice visited Yogyakarta and discussed various cooperation programs.

"I am always in favor of cooperation with foreign countries because this increases knowledge that is accredited by the college," he stated.

During the visit, the Hungarian ambassador to Indonesia was received by Rector of the University of Janabadra Cungki Kusdarjito. The ambassador was welcomed with the presentation of a puppet dance by the college students.

The ambassador later noted in her speech that she felt happy to be at the University of Janabadra Yogyakarta to discuss the issue of cooperation.

"I am very happy to be here as Ive lived in Indonesia for 1.5 years. I am still learning Indonesian, but I have forgotten a lot, so Ill speak in English," she said.(*)
