Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) watched in Bogor Botanical Garden as the Ciliwung River was cleaned by members of his presidential security unit, here on Saturday.

President Jokowi left the Bogor presidential palace at 10:30 a.m. local time, wearing a sport shirt.

The presidential guards joined a number of military and police officers, as well as members of the Ciliwung Lover Community (KPC), in the river clean up activity.

President Jokowi praised his guards for organizing the clean-up, and came out to watch, Endang Sumitra, head of Household and Protocol Sub-department of the Bogor Palace, said.

Jokowi also toured the botanical garden and greeted the gardens visitors.

The Presidential Security Unit (Paspampres) organized the clean-up to commemorate the units 71st anniversary.

The event was participated in by more than 200 people, including police and military officers, among others, picking up trashes in the Ciliwung River, which crosses the 87-ha botanical garden.

Ciliwung River is the main river that flows from the District of Bogor, passing through Bogor and Depok.(*)
