Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) is preparing to recruit 91,161 election workers to be deployed in the 13,023 polling stations that will be set up for the gubernatorial election on February 15.

"We have been conducting recruitment for the KPPS (Polling Committee Groups) workers. At least 91,161 will be deployed in the 13,023 polling stations, that is, seven KPPS workers will be posted at each station," KPU Jakarta Chairman Sumarno said here, Wednesday.

KPU Jakarta will also station two order officers at each polling station to ensure the polling process is conducted smoothly, he declared.

The recruitment started in November 15, 2016 and will end on January 14, while the result will be made known to the public through the print media, stated KPU Jakarta Commissioner M Sidik.

Applicants must meet several requirements to be qualified as KPPS workers, including not being members of political parties or part of campaigns, he revealed.

"Those who were KPPS members from 2005 to 2009 and 2010 to 2014 are not allowed to apply," he announced.

KPU will make all efforts to induct workers with integrity, he stressed. (*)
