We hope to witness a transfer of technology that would be useful in the future."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a limited cabinet meeting to evaluate the progress of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) transportation system development projects in Jakarta and Palembang here on Monday.

The president was looking to find solutions to likely obstacles in the implementation of the projects in the form of funding, spatial arrangement, supporting infrastructure, or others.

The projects began in 2015 and are expected to be completed in 2018, so that they could be used to support the Asian Games.

The head of state also expressed hope that the projects would serve as a guideline for similar projects in other cities in the country.

Jokowi was also optimistic that Indonesians would gain expertise from the projects and other high-tech railway projects, such as the mass rapid transit and medium- and high-speed train systems.

"We hope to witness a transfer of technology that would be useful in the future," he stated.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, such as Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Human Resource Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, and Minister/State Secretary Pratikno.
