The data is so extreme."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chief economic minister Darmin Nasution questioned Oxfam report that four richest mens wealth in Indonesia is equal that of 100 million poorest in the country saying here on Friday that the data had to be clarified.

"The data is so extreme," he said here on Friday (Feb. 24).

Oxfam and International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (Infid) have recently issued a report stating that prosperity gap in Indonesia is the sixth worst in the world.

The report also said that Indonesias economic growth has not been evenly spread since 2000.

During the past 20 years Indonesias gini coefficient rose faster than in other Southeast Asian countries.

They even said in the report that the richest in Indonesia could enjoy interest rate from his wealth more than one thousand times the spendings of the poorest for basic necessaries in a full year.

Darmin admitted that the gap in the country was still wide although the gini ratio to measure wealth distribution per September 2016 was a little better than in the previous periods.

The Central Bureau of Statistics has recorded the national gini ratio in 2015 at 0.4. The figure declined to 0.397 in March 2016 and 0.394 in September 2016.

Lower gini ratio shows narrower gap while higher ratio wider gap. "We are still preparing policies to narrow the gap," minister Darmin said.
