The late Muzadi was a great ulema
Malang, E Java (ANTARA News) - A member of the Presidential Advisory Board KH Hasyim Muzadi died on Thursday morning in his residence in the complex of Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) of Al Hikam in Malang.

The body would be flown to Jakarta to be buried at Al Hikam Depok.

KH Hasyim Muzadi, born on 8 August, 1944, died after intensive treatment at the Lavalette hospital and in his house in Malang , East Java, over the past several days.

Hasyim Muzadi was former chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama, the countrys largest Islamic organization.

Vice President M Jusuf Kalla is Scheduled to lead a funeral ceremony for Muzadi.


"The late Muzadi was a great ulema and a very close friend of Kalla. The demise of Muzadi is a great loss to Kalla and the people of the nation, who loved and respected the ulema," Husain Abdullah, a spokesman of the vice president stated.
