Innovations in 2016 helped Pertamina to increase its value by 155 percent compared to the previous year."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina is distributing 12-kilogram (kg) canisters of Bright Gas in 204 districts and municipalities in 28 provinces to meet the gas demand of middle- and upper-class consumers.

Pertaminas Vice President Communication Adiatma Sardjito explained that besides the distribution of the 12-kg Bright Gas canisters, Pertamina has also made available Bright Gas in 5.5-kg canisters in 161 districts or municipalities.

He stated that currently, the market ceiling of Bright Gas accounted for 15 percent of the total sales of non-subsidized liquefied natural gas (LPG). This is higher than the sales realization that reached about 10 percent last year.

"It is now increasingly distributed and is being used in more quantities by consumers," Sardjito noted in a written statement in Jakarta.

He remarked that Bright Gas is being extensively distributed to meet the high demand for this new type of gas among consumers.

The sales of non-subsidized LPG products in 2016 had reached 1.42 million kiloliters, including the innovative product Bright Gas that is made available in the form of 12-kg, 5.5-kg, and 220-gram canisters.

Currently, Bright Gas is being distributed by sales agents in Sumatra, Java, Bali, Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, and Sulawesi.

The high consumer demand is influenced by factors, such as its canisters being equipped with a double spindle valve system, thereby making them safe from leakages.

Consumers can use it easily, as the canisters carry stickers explaining the procedures to use them.

Pertamina has created a business value amounting to Rp26 trillion (US$1.9 billion) by carrying out innovations and steady improvements to boost its competitiveness.

"Innovations in 2016 helped Pertamina to increase its value by 155 percent compared to the previous year," Pertaminas Director of Human Resources, IT and General Affairs, Dwi Wahyu Daryoto, noted in a statement recently.

According to Daryoto, the figure included additional revenue from the Continuous Improvement Program.

"In the midst of an unstable oil and gas business, Pertamina continues to generate significant value, through innovations and continuous improvements and applications in daily business activities," he noted.

Daryoto emphasized that Pertamina also holds the Pertamina Annual Quality (APQ) Awards, which are a tribute to the improvements in work quality through continuous innovations across all business lines and subsidiaries.

The 7th APQ in 2017 is being held under the theme "The Global High-qualified Human Resources Supports Pertaminas Strategic Goals."

This annual event will feature a total of 2,661 innovations.
