Jokowi visits Skouw integrated cross-border post

Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited and inaugurated the Skouw integrated cross-border post in Muara Tami village, Jayapura city, Papua province.

The president, accompanied by First Lady Iriana along with his entourage, arrived at the location around 2:35 p.m. local time.

The Skouw post is bordered by Wutung area, Sandaun province, Papua New Guinea.

A number of cabinet ministers also accompanied the president during his visit, including Public works and Peoples Housing Minister Basuki Hadimoeljono, who had arrived first in Jayapura.

The Skouw cross-border post was built on an area of about six hectares with a total cost of around Rp165 billion.

The post is located about 100 meters from the neutral zone adjacent to Papua New Guinea and equipped with supporting facilities including car wash, x-ray equipment, health quarantine, animal quarantine, and plant quarantine.

The post serves some 200 people of Papua New Guinea who seek shopping facilities in the border area every day. The number of people would increase on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays when the market opens.(*)
