Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Indonesias Coordinating Minister for Maritim Affairs, has urged foreign investors to develop ports in the country during the 30th Conference of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH).

"I will provide red carpets for you to invest in Indonesia. If you find any problem, do not hesitate, we will help you," Pandjaitan said at the opening of the conference in Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday.

Pandjaitan noted that ports have played an important role in Indonesia to pursue its goal of being the worlds maritime axis.

"A port is very important because it serves as a gateway for the countrys economy and is a separator between islands as well," he added.

Pandjaitan admitted that despite the governments increased budget for national development, including port projects, it would still need more funds.

"Please come, operate and invest, and establish networks in Indonesia. We will be transparent and improve the efficiency in this country in the future," he remarked.

The international conference was attended by participants from 50 member countries.

The conference held from May 7-12 was organized by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I, Pelindo II, Pelindo III, and Pelindo IV.(*)
