Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said she was disappointed with auditors of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) allegedly accepting bribe in price of unqualified opinion (WTP) for the financial report of the Ministry of Village, Development of Backward Region and Transmigration (PDTT.

"It is very disappointing," Sri Mulyani said here on Monday, commenting on the arrest of two auditors of BPK caught red handed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) accepting bribe from the Village and PDTT Ministry.

She said the Finance Ministry and BPK have long fostered good and professional cooperation. The partnership has resulted in the WTP opinion for the financial report of the Central Government given by BPK for the first time in 21 years, she said.

"We discussed things with BPK professionally, that we believed anything given by BPK was good up to acceptable accounting principle," she said .

Earlier the Corruption Eradication Commission arrested two auditors of BPK on charge of accepting bribe in price of the WTP opinion for the financial report of the Ministry of Village, Development of Backward Regions and Transmigration.

Sri Mulyani said the bribery case should be thoroughly investigated by the law enforcement agency .

Separately, a BPK official Agung Firman Sampurna said all BPK opinions of the financial reports of the Central Government and regional administrations were appropriately presented after a thorough and long process of auditing.

"We are convinced that all opinions given to ministries and government agencies about financial reports, especially the financial report of the Central Government are well tested and thoroughly audited. If we said WTP it is truly WTP," Agung said.

The arrest of the two BPK auditors, however, had cast doubts on all WTP opinions the agency has given. Critics said WTP opinions have long become a trade commodity. (*)
