Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA News) - A total of 26 houses were damaged after a 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit the Gampong Suri Musara Village in Gayo Lues District, Aceh Province, on Monday.

However, only one of the 26 houses incurred heavy damage, while the rest faced minor damages, the Aceh Provincial Natural Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBA) noted in a press statement.

No fatalities or injuries were reported due to the quake, according to the BPBA.

The quake forced a family to take refuge in a relatives house.

The Gayo Lues district administration, through the district disaster mitigation agency, has set up a health post in the quake-affected village of Gampong Suri Musara.

In addition, the agency will distribute logistics among the affected residents. It is also assessing the extent of damage caused by the quake.

Commander of the Gayo Lues District Military Command Colonel Muhammad Faizal Nasution has ordered his men to mobilize village supervisory non-commissioned officers to check the impact of the quake in their respective village.

The earthquake shook Goya Lues on Monday (May 29) before dawn. The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 4:54 a.m. local time, was located 27 kilometers northwest of Blangkejeren, the capital of Gayo Lues District, at a depth of 10 kilometers.(*)
