Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Personnel of the Jakarta Police have caught a man identified as Iyus Rusmana who had allegedly threatened to detonate explosives in the Istiqlal mosque located in Central Jakarta.

"The individual allegedly sent a message that said he was going to blow up Istiqlal mosque," Head of the Jakarta Polices Public Relations Division Chief Commissioner Argo Yuwono stated in Jakarta, Monday evening.

He further explained that the Istiqlal mosque management officers had received a text message through a cell phone having the number 081285388403 on Saturday at around 12 a.m. local time.

The sender had sent a text saying that he planned to blow up the mosque, which was then reported by the maintenance personnel to the Sawah Besar sector police.

They then forwarded the report to the Jakarta police in order to further trace the location of the text sender, which was then identified to be around the Pintu Air, Pasar Baru area, in Central Jakarta.

Based on the investigation, the police then took Rusmana into custody from The Peak apartment in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Monday evening.

Yuwono said the police personnel are currently further investigating Rusmanas motive behind sending the text. (*)
