"The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the state palace. Later Djarot will be Jakarta governor for four months until October 15, 2017," Sumarsono said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Acting governor of Jakarta Djarot Saiful Hidayat is scheduled to be inaugurated as a governor on June 15, the Director General of Regional Autonomy of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Sumarsono, said here on Friday.

"He will be inaugurated on Thursday, June 15. It may be in the morning or in the afternoon," he told newsmen.

He said it would be President Joko Widodo who would induct Djarot as a definitive governor of Jakarta.

"The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the state palace. Later Djarot will be Jakarta governor for four months until October 15, 2017," he said.

Sumarsono said he had received the recommendation letter from the Jakarta legislative assembly regarding Djarots installation as Jakarta governor since Friday (May 2).

Djarot will replace Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok who resigned on May 23 after he dropped his appeal after being sentenced by the district court to two years in jail for blaspheming Islam.

Attorney General HM Prasetya meanwhile said that day that no decision has been made with regard to where Ahok would be put after his court ruling is confirmed.

"We will determine later (it may be in Salemba or Cipinang prison)," he said.

Ahok is currently being put at the police Mobile Brigade detention center in Depok, West Java, after being moved from Cipining on security reasons pending the conclusion of the appeal process. Ahok has been sentenced by the district court to two years in jail after being declared guilty of blaspheming Islam.

Prasetyo said the ruling would be implemented after the prosecution decided to withdraw its appeal following Ahoks same decision.

Regarding demand from Ahoks lawyers who feel that Cipinang is not secure the attorney general said it will be considered as an input.

"If it is really not safe will we force to do it. If anything happens who will be responsible. However, no special treatment will be given to him," he said.

He said it was not the authority of the prosecutors office to determine the prison but the decision is in the hands of the Directorate General of Penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice.

"It is not our competence to determine it," he added.

Regarding when the implementation would be carried out, Prasetyo said he would wait for the copy of the courts ruling. "As soon as we receive it we will implement it," he said.

The attorney general said that the prosecutors decision to cancel its appeal was made based on usefulness.

"I think by canceling the appeal the prosecutor could concentrate on other duties," he said.(*)
