Kalla said that Indonesia will not be affected by the US disengagement from the Paris Agreement.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia has firmly emphasized its commitment to Paris Agreement and will implement the resolution to contribute to the world climate improvement.

"Indonesia, along with the Europe Union and other nations, will implement the Paris Agreement," Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated here on Thursday.

Kalla welcomed the courtesy call of French Ambassador to Indonesia Jean Charles Berthonet, German Ambassador to Indonesia Michael von Ungern Sternberg, and EU Ambassador to Indonesia Vincent Guerend.

Kalla added that Indonesia will not be affected by the US disengagement from the Paris Agreement.

"Indonesia will be persistent towards its commitment to implement the Paris Agreement and will not be affected by the US decision," he revealed.

The absence of the US in the Paris Agreement will cause several obstacles, such as carbon trading effort, he added.

However, Indonesia will maintain its efforts to achieve the target, including by using renewable energy to 23 percent by 2025.

Additionally, Ambassador Jean appreciated Indonesia's efforts and its commitment to the agreement.(*)
