Pekanbaru, Riau (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo has inspected the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road development project in Kampar district in Sumatras Riau province.

"The 131 kilometer Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road project was started 6 months ago. Now it is in the process of land clearing," President Joko Widodo said here on Sunday.

The president was accompanied by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Rini Soemarni, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister /State Secretary Pratikno and Riau Governor Arsyadjuliandi Rachman.

During the inspection, the president observed the location of the project in person. The location has not been paved.

The location is in the village of Muara Fajar.

"The land acquisition has reached 47 percent," the president said.

The toll road that will connect the capital of Riau province with the industrial and port city of Riau is targeted to be completed in 2019.

However, for the gate of Pekanbaru-Minas, Hutama Karya targeted completing it in 2019.

Construction cost for the development of Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road amounted to Rp9,53 trillion, with the investment value of the toll road construction is around Rp15 trillion

PT Hutama Karya partners with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) to prepay the construction of the toll road section of the Trans-Sumatra.

In addition to the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road, the government plans to build a toll road connecting Pekanbaru-Padang, West Sumatra.(*)
