"I would like to reaffirm that the government and people will not remain silent to any systematic attempt that threatens the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia," Jokowi said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government and people will not remain silent in the face of any systematic attempt to threaten the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated on Wednesday.

"I would like to reaffirm that the government and people will not remain silent to any systematic attempt that threatens the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia," he remarked while chairing a limited cabinet meeting on state defense at the Presidential Office here on Wednesday.

The president noted that the threat has evolved in such a way that it has a multidimensional effect.

"The threat is related not only to physical matters but also to non-physical aspects, including ideology, politics, economy, and social culture," Jokowi pointed out.

Jokowi said the government and people will not let various threats undermine Pancasila as the state ideology.

"As part of our efforts, during the limited meeting this evening, we will discuss ways to strengthen the state defense program to gather collective national energy to face various forms of multidimensional threat," he noted.

He reiterated that defending the state is the task of all elements of the nation.

"Regardless of their background, education, religion, and ethnicity, all Indonesian citizens have equal rights and obligations to defend the state," he emphasized.

The president underscored the importance of instilling the values of nationalism and patriotism since childhood to thwart various threats.(*)
