Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - South Sulawesi recorded a slowdown in economic growth in the second quarter of this year growing only 6.63 percent in the second quarter of this year compared to a growth of 8.02 percent it recorded in the same period last year.

The growth rate in the April-June period this year, however, was still much higher than the countrys average growth of 5.01 percent in the same period, the provincial office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said .

The growth rate also was still stronger than 5.96 percent recorded in the first quarter of this year, an official of the BPS Didik Nursetyohadi said here on Monday.

In term of production, the highest growth was recorded in the business of accommodation and food and beverage industry which grew 11.04 percent , Didik said.

In term of spending the highest growth of 8.25 percent was recorded in gross domestic capital formation, he added.(*)
