Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s anti-graft agency KPK has put House Speaker Setya Novanto under detention as a suspect for allegedly being involved in the electronic identification card procurement corruption case.

"KPK has put SN under detention because there is enough evidence he has allegedly committed corruption, along with the other parties, in the E-KTP case, and we will hold him for 20 days from November 17 to December 6 at the KPK branch of the state penitentiary in East Jakarta," Febri Diansyah, KPK spokesman, said here, Friday.

Novanto is being treated at the RSCM hospital following his transfer from the Medika Permata Hijau hospital, where he was initially treated after a car incident Thursday night in South Jakarta.

"Before leaving for RSCM, investigators showed the warrant, but the SN side refused to sign it, and so it was signed by the investigators and two witnesses from Medika Permata Hijau," Diansyah stated.

"Based on the result of the examination by RSCM, further treatment as well as observation is still needed today, so the KPK has let SN remain in the hospital for the time being," he remarked.

SN will be treated at RSCM, guarded by teams from the KPK and the police.
