Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Embassy in Cairo continues to encourage the exports of Indonesian coffee to Egypt, the embassy noted in a press statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Helmy Fauzy received leaders of two Egyptian companies that import Indonesian coffee: General Manager of Super Star Trading Co. Hesham Barrada and CEO of Green Coffee Export & Import Co. Shehta El Bahnasawy.

Bahnasawy explained that his company had been importing coffee products from various countries since 2000, but in the past seven years, it had been continuously importing Robusta and Arabica coffee beans from Indonesia.

"We are importing from Indonesian coffee producers, such as PT Asal Jaya, PT Asia Makmur, Sungai Budi Group, and PT Indo Cafco, with an annual transaction value of US$10 million," Bahnasawy stated.

Bahnasawy noted that his company was making efforts to increase the transaction value to $12 million.

On the occasion, Ambassador Helmy Fauzy lauded the Egyptian Super Star company for importing coffee from Indonesia. He is optimistic that the import of coffee from Indonesia would be increased while maintaining the product quality.

"Consumption of coffee in Egypt is very high, and we encourage young exporters to seize opportunities to export coffee bean products to Egypt," Ambassador Fauzy remarked.
