Kupang (ANTARA News) - Some 3,250 military and police personnel will be deployed to provide security during President Joko Widodo`s visit to the eastern Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara on Jan 8.

The personnel will be involved in security arrangements in the land, sea and air, Commander of the Wirasakti district military command Brig Gen Teguh Muji Angkasa said on Sunday.

He said two warships will be readied to provide security in the sea when the president visits the country`s southernmost island of Rote to meet a number of volunteers.

While in East Nusa Tenggara, the president will also visit Kupang district to inaugurate Raknamo dam and Kupang municipality to hand over land certificates to local residents.

In addition, the president will also inaugurate the Cross Country Border Posts in Timor Tengah Utara District and in Malaka District

East Nusa Tenggara Governor Frans Lebu Raya said on Friday (Jan 5) the head of state should have visited the province on Dec 20 last year, but due to several agendas, the visit was then postponed to early January 2018.
