Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metro Jaya Police here on Wednesday held a roll call ceremony of security preparations for the 18th Asian Games, which will be held from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018, in Jakarta and Palembang in South Sumatra Province.

The ceremony was led by Deputy Chief of the Jakarta Police Brigadier General, Purwadi Arianto, and attended by Chairman of the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), Erik Tohir, and his deputy Lieutenant General (retired), Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.

After the ceremony, they checked the equipment of the security officers who will guard the implementation of the largest sport event in Asia.

An intelligent operation will also be intensified, before and during the Asian Games Test Event and the 2018 Asian Games, to prevent any disturbance.

In addition to Jakarta and Palembang, Lampung, West Java and Banten Provinces will act as supporting hosts for several sport championships.

A total of 1,708 athletes and 499 officials from 45 Asian countries will participate in the Asian Games, which will feature 41 sport branches.
