London (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government has renewed its commitment to continue to halt all forms of violence against children during an international conference in Stockholm, Sweden, on Feb 14 and 15.

The Women Empowerment and Child Protection Minister, Yohana Yembise, expressed the commitment at the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children Conference, which was hosted by the Swedish government, Rahmawati Wulandari, the economy counselor of Indonesian Embassy to Sweden, informed ANTARA in London on Saturday.

Under the theme "End Violence Solutions Summit," the talk was jointly organized with other partners, including the Global We Protect Alliance, Wulandari noted.

The conference, which was opened by the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Loven and Queen Silvia of Sweden, was aimed to discuss some updates and initiatives on children rights, as well as the effective strategies to halt violence against young people.

The conference reported that violence against children has affected more than one million people worldwide.

Hence, the talk was also intended to disseminate ideas on halting the crime, while calling on all the countries to accommodate children rights, as well as continue all efforts to protect the younger generation.

During the talk, Wulandari stated that Yembise had shared some success stories from Indonesia.

According to the minister, the Indonesian government has launched several regulations, while, at the same time, guiding the district and city governments to launch programs on protecting children.

The Children Ministry in Indonesia, Yembise noted, has also hosted a Child Forum to end bullying and halt children marriage.

She further explained that the Indonesian government has also launched the Friends of Children hotline in order to prevent the sexual exploitation of young people.

Apart from the PM and the Queen, the conference also featured some speakers, including the UN Secretary General Deputy; the WHO Director General; and the Swedish Minister of Child, Elderly, and Gender.
