Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Novel Baswedan will remain an investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), despite being absent for more than 10 months to undergo eye treatment in Singapore, the commission`s spokesman, Febri Diansyah said.

"Until now, Baswedan is still an employee of the KPK`s investigation directorate, as chief of task force. Now, his post remains unchanged. When he would return to the job depends on his recovery process," Diansyah stated at the KPK building here on Thursday.

He made the remarks after greeting Baswedan, who has just returned from Singapore.

"We will look at the recovery process after the second phase of (medical) operation. We hope it will not last for a long time, so that he can return to work for the KPK. Until now, his post (at the KPK) remains unchanged," he remarked.

Two men reportedly attacked Baswedan as he was walking home after attending the dawn prayer at a nearby mosque at 5:10 a.m. local time at the Kelapa Gading housing complex in North Jakarta in April 2017.

The attack resulted in injuries to his face and left eye, while the attackers are still at large.
